Grand Opening of The Women’s Center of Greater Lansing

Lansing, MI. The Women’s Center of Greater Lansing will be holding it’s official Grand Opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, July 16th, at 5:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Women’s Center, located at 1710 and 1712 E. Michigan Ave in Lansing. Honored guests include Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero who will be the official ribbon cutter, Suzy Merchant, Head Coach of the MSU Women’s Basketball team and the Women’s Center’s onorary Founding Mother’s Campaign Chair, and Mike Nichols, Honorary Chair of the Founding Men Campaign.

Renovation of the 1712 E. Michigan Avenue site have been completed with funding from Annette Kelly, the Capital Region Community Foundation, East Lansing Rotary Club, Great Lakes Capital Fund, Michigan Interfaith Trust Fund, NuUnion Credit Union, and the PB&J Foundation. Donated labor and supplies from Rusty Meska, The Gillespie Company, Allied Interiors, Centry Corporation, Standard Electric, Superior Electric, IBEW Locals 352 and 665, Kleen Kut Drywall, Superior Mechanical, Master Gardener Sue Irwin, Liquid Web, other businesses and dozens of volunteers over the past 3 years made the completion of the renovations possible.

With the completion of the 1712 building, 2,000 square feet will be added and make it possible to provide computer classes, nutritional cooking classes, additional space for women to work on their job search and a place to house a professional clothes closet.

The Women's Center of Greater Lansing is an independent, community based, 501(c)(3) private, non-profit organization that provides services to women in the Lansing area. Since its doors opened in 2005, the Women’s Center has served over 1,000 women. The mission of the Women’s Center is to help women realize their potential.
